CANTON -- Thousands of spectators and athletes are expected in St. Lawrence County as Section 10 hosts the New York State Cross-Country Championships at SUNY Canton this year.

Organizers are seeking donations and volunteers for the event, which will begin Sept. 20 with an invitational and continues Nov. 7 and 8 with the championship events.

“This year will be a momentous one for the sport of cross country and St. Lawrence County. This is only the fourth time that Section 10 has ever been selected to serve as the host for an event of this magnitude in the North Country,” a release from organizers says.

“Local interest is soaring and not only from NYSPHSAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association), but also from the 200-plus volunteers and officials, the 2,000-plus student-athletes and the 3,000 plus spectators who will be in St. Lawrence County Nov. 7 for this event.”

Any businesses interested in donating to this event should contact Section 10 Athletic Office at (315) 386-4505 x 15103 or sectionx@sllboces.org.

These donations will be used for the sole purpose and benefit of the Section 10 Local Organizing committee for the Pre-Meet Invitational September 20th and the 2014 NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships Nov. 7 and 8. For coordination purposes of donated items, email or call for any special arrangements for pick-up or delivery of donated items A.S.A.P.
