MASSENA -- Residents of the northeast portion of the Village of Massena can apply for housing assistance.
The village has received a $400,000 grant to rehabilitate owner-occupied homes.
Eligible homeowners must live between McKinley Avenue to Richards Street, and North Main Street to Jefferson Street.
The money can be used to address health and safety concerns, energy efficiency and take care of code violations “within reason,” according to the mayor’s office.
Applicants must also be current on village, school, county and town taxes, along with any municipal service bills, such as water and sewer.
The applicant’s adjusted gross income must not exceed 112 pecent of the county median income for a given household size: one person $37,000; two people $42,291; three $47,578; four $52,774; five $57,075; six $61,286; seven $65,498; eight $69,709.
