The North Country Regional Economic Development Council (NCREDC) will hold workshops for applicants to the third annual round of competition for state development grants, including one in Potsdam June 18.

In 2013, up to $760 million in economic development resources will be available to applicants through the regional economic development councils.

People may register at http://regionalcouncils.ny.gov/content/north-country or by calling (518) 561-5642.

The application period will open across the seven-county North Country region, which includes St. Lawrence, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, and Lewis counties, at 8 a.m. on June 17. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Aug. 12. They will be reviewed by the NCREDC based on their alignment with the council’s plan, and will be reviewed on a technical basis by the State Agency Resource Team.

The Potsdam workshop June 18 runs from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam. Other workshops will be held in Plattsburgh and Watertown.

The workshops will include an overview of the application process followed by breakout sessions on specific areas of funding available for economic development projects.

There are 29 programs available through 13 state agencies in 2013, including Empire State Development; NYS Canal Corporation; NYS Energy Research and Development Authority; Environmental Facilities Corporation; Homes and Community Renewal; Department of Labor; Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; Department of State, Office of National and Community Service; Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance; Higher Education Services Corporation; Department of Environmental Conservation; and Council on the Arts.

The 2013 Available CFA Resources Manual, which outlines the funds available from those 29 state agency programs, and the 2013 REDC Guidebook, which provides the competitive guidelines for this year, are both available at www.regionalcouncils.ny.gov
