After a brief break from the winter weather in early spring in St. Lawrence County, a little warmer for a couple of days than it has been, it's back to below-normal temperatures and even some more snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The highest readings today were in the 50s, and the overnight lows are expected to be in the mid to upper 30s, the first night in weeks in the North Country to have a low temperature that doesn't go below the freezing mark. And it will stay above freezing Thursday before dipping into the 20s Thursday night.

The rain, predicted by the National Weather Service to begin this afternoon, is expected to continue at a chance of precipitation between 40 and 80 percent through Friday, with the best chance tonight and tomorrow. But it will be turning colder Thursday night, with lows down to the mid 20s, cooling enough for the rain to turn to snow.

The forecast is pretty much the same for the whole county, with the usually cooler spots only a couple of degrees lower than the rest of the area.
