PARISHVILLE -- A Parishville teen has raided more than $1,600 for her school's music program.

Amanda Mason, 14, is a Parishville-Hopkinton student, who worked with the Community Action Angel's Kids are Key program to develop and a community service event.

Mason, a musician and music enthusiast, came up with a plan to help her school's struggling music program.Amanda Mason present $1681.24 to the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School's music program.Pictured are music teacher Andrea Ellison, Amanda Mason, and band teacher Don Cannamela.Amanda Mason present $1681.24 to the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School's music program.Pictured are music teacher Andrea Ellison, Amanda Mason, and band teacher Don Cannamela.

She was awarded $100 in seed money by the St. Lawrence County Community Action Angels and then put her plan into action.

The event, “Musicality” was held Oct. 6, at the Town of Parishville Recreational Park Pavilion.

She said the weather was cold and rainy but that did not stop her event from going forward. Musicality was a success, according to Mason, who said many community members supported her idea.

Door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, an auction organized by Parishville AMVET Post 265 Ladies Auxiliary, novelties, bake sale, Rosies Hawg Dogs, St. Lawrence Valley Roasters coffee, a classic car show, music lessons and musical entertainment were all part of the show.

The entertainment was provided by Jack Kelley’s Little Big Band, Amanda Mason, Richard Wickwire, Ed McCarthy, Brad Laddison, Shawn Reed, Kathy MacKay, Emily Johnson, Clara Maine, Lori White & Lori Knowles and Nick Rycroft.

Anyone interested in donating to the musicality fund can do so at Parishville Hopkinton Central School, ATTN: Music Department (Musicality Program), PO Box 187, School Street, Parishville, NY 13672.
