A graduation ceremony was held at the school May 12 with family, friends, and the school community in attendance.
Schechter, the son of Jay Schechter and Paula Youmell, of Hannawa Falls, attended Little River for the past thirteen years. He is the second Little River graduate that has attended from kindergarten to twelfth grade and is graduating with a 3.19 grade point average.
Jake has a special interest in math, computer science, and engineering.
Over the past two years he has taken three calculus classes at St. Lawrence University through the High School Enrichment Program.
He studied computer science for three years with SUNY Potsdam professor Brian Ladd.
Schechter competed in robotic competitions for the past four years including Clarkson's Robotic Academy Challenge where his team won a robotics design award this year.
He has practiced Tae Kwon Do for past eight years and has earned the second level blue belt with a red stripe.
He plans to take a gap year and then pursue computer science at college.
