TCP Games opens in Ogdensburg, sells unique board games, offer place to play Magic, Dungeons and Dragons

OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg tabletop fans have a new place to play and gather for Magic tournaments, Dungeons and Dragons sessions and competitive board games.

Nelson Charlton and his son Trevor opened TCP Games, 230 Caroline Street in April.

Charlton said the store sells a  variety of hard-to-find board games and Magic the Gathering Cards as well as dice bags, t-shirts and even some used video games.

TCP is open noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday for people looking to purchase or play games. Nelson said he and his son have been longtime fans of Magic and were interested in opening a shop for a long time.

“We have all been playing Magic for the better part of 6 to 8 years. It’s always been a passion and we always wanted to do this, but we waited because there were other stores in town doing something similar,” he said.

While the shop’s stock is largely centered on the deck-building game Magic the Gathering, he says they also offer a variety of board games you won’t find at Walmart.

TCP is a retail store, and Charlton says it’s also a place for people to gather and play.

“Our big night is Friday when we have Magic tournaments,” he said. “But we usually have someone in here playing something.”

Nelson said the store also stocks refreshments for players participating in tournaments or trying out at a game.

At TCP Nelson says he and his son will teach people how to play the board games they stock or special order rare games, figurines or cards their customers.

He said he is also looking to expand the gaming community to players of Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder and other role playing games.

“We want to be a place for people to gather at and have fun,” he said. “We are always looking for more players.”

Those interested in joining the fun can visit the store’s Facebook page where players communicate and set up Magic tournaments, Dungeons and Dragons arena fights and other competitive matches.
