OGDENSBURG -- The suspect in a Monday shooting has been arraigned and is being held at the county jail in Canton on $100,000 bail.
The alleged shooter, Jahmese J. Rivers, 18, 214 Arthur Street, Utica, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Ogdensburg police say they responded to the call at approximately 5:36 p.m. after receiving a report of gun shots fired in the area of the 900 Block of Caroline Street.
Investigators tracked down the suspect and took him into custody around 6:08 p.m. without incident, police said.
A handgun was also located inside of a city residence, according to police.
"Fortunately, [neither] the victim nor anyone else in the residential neighborhood were struck or injured," police said in a released statement.
The Ogdensburg Police was assisted in the investigation by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, United States Border Patrol, St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, and the Ogdensburg Fire Department.
