Sure sign of spring as boat docks and buoys go in St. Lawrence River in Waddington, Massena

Recreation on the St. Lawrence River will soon be in full swing as the New York Power Authority begins installing docks and buoys for the season.

NYPA will begin installation of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project during the week of April 21.

The process is expected to take about two weeks, but is dependent on weather and river conditions.

Dock installation will begin at NYPA’s Frank S. McCullough Hawkins Point Visitors Center and end at the Howard Park docks in the town of Waddington.

Docks and buoys will be installed at the following locations:

Town of Massena:

• Hawkins Point Visitors Center & Boat Launch.

• Massena Intake docks.

• South Channel buoys.

• Massena Country Club docks.

Town/Village of Waddington:

• Whittaker Park docks.

• Old Milk Factory buoys.

• Howard Park docks.

All docks and buoys will be removed towards the end of October, before ice creates unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public. NYPA will provide public notice in advance of this work.
