POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam’s mascot Max C. Bear is competing against 40 other mascots through Thursday in the first round of the Mascot Madness competition to determine the top mascot in the SUNY system.

This year competition will see Max C. Bear, seeded 6th, will take on 3rd seed Damien the Great Dane of University at Albany in round one.

Fans can vote at http://ow.ly/J0pPc.

Rounds 4 and 5 incorporate social voting. If Max C. reaches the final four he will be assigned a unique URL that will be applied to a Tweet button associated with his profile inside the webpage. The more times that this Tweet button is clicked; the more likely Max C. is to gain bonus votes.

First round voting takes place through March 19 at 4 p.m.

In 2013, Max C. lost in the first round to the Morrisville Mustang in one of the most hotly contested matchups of the entire competition, college officials said. Last year, Max C. advanced to the second round before bowing out to Mohawk Community College.

Rd. 2. Friday, March 20 at 12 p.m. - Monday, March 23 at 4 p.m.

Rd 3. Tuesday, March 24 at 12 p.m. - Friday, March 27 at 4 p.m.

Rd 4. Monday, March 30 at 12 p.m. - Wednesday, April at 4 p.m.

Rd 5. Friday, April 3 at 12 p.m. - Wednesday April 8 at 4 p.m.
