POTSDAM -- As SUNY Canton winds up campus visits by five candidates for president, the SUNY Potsdam Presidential Search Committee says it has identified five candidates invited to campus for interviews over the next three weeks.

There will be two open forums for each candidate. The community is invited to attend the afternoon open forums, along with faculty, staff and students.

SUNY Canton has concluded visits to their campus by five candidates to lead that institution. They appeared at two forums each between Jan. 27 and Feb. 11.

The community open forums with the SUNY Potsdam candidates will be held as follows:

Candidate 1: Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., in the Barrington Student Union Fireside Lounge

Candidate 2: Thursday, Feb. 20, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., in the Dunn Dance Theater

Candidate 3: Monday, Feb. 24, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., in the Dunn Dance Theater

Candidate 4: Thursday, Feb. 27, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., in the Dunn Dance Theater

Candidate 5: Monday, March 3, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., in the Dunn Dance Theater.

Information about each candidate will be shared with campus and local media via email, and posted to the SUNY Potsdam website, 48 hours prior to their arrival in Potsdam. The messages will be sent two days before the candidates' visits, even if the date falls on a weekend.

Feedback from the campus community will be important to the process, the college says. There will be an online survey for all who attend forums with the candidates, so that faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members can share their impressions.

Following the campus visits, the search committee will make recommendations to the SUNY Potsdam College Council, which will send three names to the SUNY chancellor for review. Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher will make the final recommendation to the SUNY Board of Trustees, which is the appointing authority.
