POTSDAM -- Sarah Olsen, a junior at SUNY Potsdam studying dance and anthropology, is organizing an online fundraising campaign to to help pay for attendance at a prestigious summer dance program.

Olsen was recently offered a spot to attend the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School Summer Intensive program in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Originally coming to Potsdam to studying archaeology, her focus shifted when she discovered the dance department. After being in her first dance concert freshman year, she fell back in love with dance and decided to pursue it in higher education. Sarah has been in numerous theater and dance productions including the Faculty Dance concert, Student Choreographer’s concert and the Senior choreographer’ s concert.

She has attended the American College Dance Association conference (ACDA) at Montclair University in New Jersey where she presented and original work.

Most recently Olsen had the honor of performing the work “In the Cold Room” choreographed by Chistopher K. Morgan of the CKM&A Contemporary Dance Company based in Washington, D.C. Recently she has been accepted to the Perry-Mansfield school of theater and dance for their professional dance intensive in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

To cover the cost of her attendance later this summer at Perry-Mansfield, Olsen has started a gofundme campaign entitled “Help Sarah’s attend Perry-Mansfield.” To learn more or contribute, visit www.gofundme.com/help-sarah-attend-perrymansfield.

Olsen thanks all who support the arts in higher education at SUNY Potsdam.
