SUNY Potsdam denies rumor that two administrators reassigned in wake of protests

POTSDAM -- A SUNY Potsdam spokeswoman says a rumor that two administrators had been reassigned following recent protests at the college is not true.

An email being circulated under the name Dave Mansor states that Dean of Students William ‘Chip’ Morris and Director of Student Conduct Annette Robbins have been reassigned. The email cites a “campus insider” as its source.

However, SUNY Potsdam denies any validity to the claim.

“As of today there has been no change in title for either of them,” Communications and Government Relations Associate Alexandra Jacobs Wilke said.

In December a student-led protest group blocked traffic and released a list of demands that included the removal of Morris and Robbins.

The protest followed three homophobic and racist threats left for a professor at the college. Police have made one arrest associated with two of the messages and the college reportedly “beefed” up its security.

Since the protests the college has been meeting with students leading the protest to help alleviate some of the safety concerns.

Jacobs said the rumors surrounding Robbins and Morris may have stemmed from those meetings.

As for whether Robbins and Morris may be reassigned in the future, Jacobs said she could not speculate.
