POTSDAM – The leading music business magazine, Billboard, is calling the music business program at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music one of the top 35 such offerings in North America.

The list of the best music business programs includes colleges from across the U.S. and Canada. Crane is only one of six programs listed in New York State.

The Crane School offers a bachelor of music degree in music business, which combines the strengths of music study at Crane with course offerings in business administration and economics. The program’s aim is to prepare students for employment in the music products business, arts administration and in the recording industry.

The Crane Institute for Music Business and Entrepreneurship has been promoting partnerships with music industry associations and businesses, providing students with opportunities to learn from professionals.

"It's very nice to have this kind of recognition, which is borne out not only by our inclusion in a magazine, but also by the positive feedback we receive every year from the employers who our interns and graduates work with," said Assistant Professor Carol "Kickie" H. Britt.

Crane offers the only internship program in the country that places students with companies in the music industry for the annual National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show, which is the world's leading trade event for the music products industry.
