SUNY Potsdam announces transfer agreement with North Country Community College

POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam and North Country Community College have finalized an agreement with that will make it easier for northern New York students to transfer credits.

SUNY Potsdam is working on similar agreements with other neighboring campuses that are the source of most of the 400 or more students that transfer to Potsdam each year.

“This agreement is an excellent advising tool for faculty at North Country Community College to work with students who intend to transfer to SUNY Potsdam,” according to Director of Academic Transfer Services Susan Manfred.

“It provides students with the resources needed to select appropriate major courses during their enrollment at the community college,” she said. “This allows for seamless transferability and the opportunity to graduate from SUNY Potsdam with a baccalaureate degree in a timely manner.”

The campus-to-campus agreement complies with SUNY policy. NCCC students who transfer to Potsdam with an associate’s degree, having completed 30 semester hours of general education including seven out of 10 required courses, will be ready to start work on their majors without having to take additional classes.

SUNY Potsdam has course equivalency tables for SUNY community colleges, colleges of technology, CUNY community colleges and more on its website. In addition, Potsdam’s advising guide for NCCC is designed to assist students and their advisors.
