POTSDAM -- The State University of New York at Potsdam has endured nearly 200 winters since its founding in 1816. While every season is beautiful in the North Country, alumni are particularly fond of sharing their winter "snow stories," which they share as a point of pride and badge of honor.

The college has released the first volume of its bicentennial oral history project, dedicated to tales of Potsdam through the seasons.

Titled "Baby, It's Cold Outside: Remembering the Seasons in the North Country," the free online album includes recordings of interviews with 10 SUNY Potsdam alumni, as they share their memories and stories from their student days. This is the first volume in a series of recordings that will be released throughout the bicentennial year.

The first volume includes excerpts from interviews with Lynne Boles '74, T.C. Boyle '68, James Brewer '71, Larrie Dean '64, Mildred Davey Eldridge '51, Stephen Girko '65, Norma Jean Lamb '51, Margaret Lattimore '91, Alexander Neumann '05 and Dimitri Pittas '99.

A black-and-white snapshot of the then-new SUNY Potsdam campus in winter accompanies the recording online. The photo is a scan from the college scrapbook of Ronald Farra '57 and Johanna (DiCroce) Farra '56, who generously allowed their alma mater to scan their photographs of campus in the 1950s for the College Archives.

The oral history project has been underway for the past three years, as staff from SUNY Potsdam's Office of Public Affairs have interviewed alumni, faculty and friends of the College. The project is produced by Deborah Dudley and Doyle Dean.

"Baby, It's Cold Outside" is now available to stream or download for free, at sunypotsdam.bandcamp.com.

Copies will also be available on CD and vinyl recording at Reunion 2016.

SUNY Potsdam will mark the 200th anniversary of the signing of the St. Lawrence Academy charter on March 25, with a celebration for campus and community at 1 p.m. in the Barrington Student Union.
