CANTON -- SUNY Canton welcomed about 400 total visitors, including prospective students and their families, who were there Oct. 10-11 to view the campus and learn about the college’s academic programs.
It was the most well attended admissions event in the last three years, according to SUNY Canton Director of Admissions Melissa Evans.
“We had students visiting from nearly every corner of the state and we had an extremely strong showing from St. Lawrence County,” Evans said. “We also had several registrations from Vermont, Massachusetts and Canada. We are looking forward to welcoming a large and academically prepared incoming class.”
Open houses showcase the campus, programs, services, and talents to prospective students and their families. Faculty members highlight their respective academic programs and the college’s focus on applied learning. Visitors had the opportunity to visit the college’s business trading room, laboratories in the engineering sciences and learning facilities in allied health fields. They also had the chance to visit the Roos House Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center and Kennedy Hall, the college’s newest student residence.
As part of a new tradition, a band made up of of SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran, Associate Professor Daniel J. Gagliardi, and Executive Director for University Relations Lenore VanderZee welcomed families to the day’s events.
SUNY Canton will host two more open houses on Friday, Oct. 23 and Friday, Nov. 13.
