SUNY Canton, SUNY Potsdam picked by web sites as ‘value’ schools

Two college ranking web sites have SUNY Canton among “best value” colleges, and one of them lists SUNY Potsdam in their rankings.

SUNY Canton is the best value online schools in New York for 2016, according to bestvalueschools.com.

“All in all, SUNY Canton excels where online learners need them to the most – at student support! In addition to an active advising office and helpful Career Resources center, the school also provides a free ‘Mastering American ELearning’ course for international students,” according to the site’s “5 Best Value Online Schools in New York 2016” page.

SUNY Canton is #14 in greatcollegedeals.net’s list of colleges with energy research programs.

According to the web site, “For students seeking a degree program in energy research, SUNY Canton offers an Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems major that covers a fascinating spectrum of study in this field. Some of the courses offered related to energy include thermodynamics, heat transfer, environmental science, and many more. Students following this major are taught to become solution-oriented professionals on issues pertaining to alternative and renewable energy.”

And SUNY Potsdam has a greatcollegedeals.net ranking as one of the 20 “best deals in colleges that don’t require the SAT” for admission.

“As more colleges discover the lack of correlation between standardized test scores and academic success, it’s an increasingly popular trend to make these scores optional on applications. We researched and ranked the following schools who don’t require SAT scores, selecting among those with a net price lower than institutions with this admissions practice,” the web site says.

“In 2009, the college shifted to an SAT test-optional policy, stating its admission standards had changed to focus more on the whole profile of each applicant,” the category page says.

SUNY Potsdam is #11 in that category.
