SUNY Canton, Mohawk Education Services honored for tech education partnerships

SUNY Canton and St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Education Services have been added to the list of third round winners in the New York State Pathways in Technology Early College High School partnership awards.

Clarkson University had already earned the distinction.

The public-private educational partnerships add an additional 1,500 students to the nearly 9,000 New York high school students from rounds one and two who are preparing for high-skilled jobs in technology, manufacturing and healthcare-related fields, according to a press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office. Students will earn an associate degree at no cost to their families and will be first in line for jobs with participating companies when they graduate.

Modeled after the IBM partnership in New York City, the schools will supply all regions with a talent pipeline driving local economic development.

Winning partnerships were selected through a highly competitive process and represent leading industries from across New York State.
