The SUNY Canton Student Affairs division pose for a group photo following a surprise visit to the University Police Office to thank the college’s officers for keeping students safe.
CANTON -- SUNY Canton’s staff and students have expressed their gratitude to the college’s University Police Department for keeping the college safe.
During a recent surprise ceremony, each of the officers was presented with a basket filled with gift cards, stress balls, coffee cups, candy and personalized t-shirts designed by students.
“The Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Affairs office wanted to thank the officers for all they do to support its students,” said SGA President Khaina Solomon, a management major. “Nearly everyone I know appreciates all the work University Police does for the campus.”
The college’s police work mainly on campus but also assist local law enforcement agencies. Most recently, an officer helped save a life by administering naxolone (also known by the brand name Narcan) to an unresponsive overdose victim at an off-campus residence.
Numerous other officers have been heralded locally and statewide for their life-saving efforts.
