CANTON -- A SUNY Canton graduate is featured in this week’s Time magazine cover article on why more Americans are moving to the Lone Star state than any other.
Casey Colando, now living in West Texas, studied alternative energy at SUNY Canton and bought five acres in West Texas “sight unseen” when he was 19, moving there four years later, in 2008.
Colando is using his education to make a living by helping others in the remote region generate their own electricity with wind and solar installations that are not part of “the big electric company,” the magazine reports.
The main thrust of the article, “Why Texas Is Our Future,” in the Oct. 28 edition, is that Texas is growing due to economic conditions around the country.
