CANTON – SUNY Canton was knocked out in round 3 of SUNY’s “Mascot Madness” last week as the Farmingdale Rams moved to the semi-finals.
Trailing by 400 votes with little time left in SUNY's "Mascot Madness" competition SUNY hoped for a strong finish, but was unable to close the gap.
Roody the Roo, SUNY Canton’s mascot collected 8,726 votes, while Farmingdale’s Rambo the Ram closed the round with 9,118 votes.
Roody beat out Alfred state’s mascot in the first round, followed by Oneonta in the second round. Roody was the 20th ranked mascot prior to beating out the fourth ranked Oneonta red dragon 7,326 to 6,116 in the second round.
The voting between Roody and Rambo was neck-and-neck, with the lead changing hands several times.
