Sunny today, chance of snow tonight in St. Lawrence County, say forecasters

St. Lawrence County got off to a brisk start Saturday with sunny skies and single-digit temperatures and calm winds.

Skies will remain sunny today. The high temperature will reach around 20 degrees before dipping into the single digits again tonight with cloudy skies, according to forecasters.

They say it will be cloudy with a chance of snow Sunday as thermometers reach the mid-teens, but with moderate winds, wind chill values could be below zero.

Sunday night will be cloudy with no snow expected. Lows will be around zero with wind chills in the mid-teens below zero, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday the chance of snow will be around 30 percent in the afternoon with less than half an inch of accumulation. Highs are expected in the mid 20s. Winds will pick up from the southwest at 8 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

The chance of snow increases and it will be getting warmer as the week goes on, with highs in the 40s at mid-week, the NWS predicts.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

• Sunday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 7am. Cloudy, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -2. Light west wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 0. Wind chill values as low as -12. West wind 6 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. Southwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph.

• Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of snow after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Southeast wind 3 to 8 mph.

• Tuesday Night: Rain, snow, and sleet likely before 4am, then rain likely between 4am and 5am, then rain and snow likely after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

• Wednesday: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Southwest wind around 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

• Wednesday Night: Rain likely before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind 6 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

• Thursday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

• Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 30. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
