The cyclonic flow that has produced cool temperatures and mainly mountain snow showers will slowly weaken today with some peeks of sunshine possible by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Temperatures will continue to be below normal with lighter winds, the service says.
The next system arrives late Thursday into Friday with mainly a cold rain in the valleys and mixed rain and snow in the mountains, NWS says.
A wet snow accumulation of several inches is possible overnight Thursday.
Temps will warm up slowly over the weekend and into the 50s by early next week, NWS says.
The forecast through next week is as follows:
Thursday
A chance of rain and snow before noon, then rain. High near 43. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Thursday Night
Rain. Low around 37. Southeast wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday
Rain likely, mainly before 11am, then a chance of showers after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday Night
A chance of showers before 8pm, then a chance of showers after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday
Showers likely, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
