People in St. Lawrence County will enjoy sunshine and above-freezing temperatures Saturday and Sunday, with clear skies and cold temperatures overnight before clouds and a chance of snow move in Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds this morning from the northeast will become light and variable Sunday night.

The NWS says temperatures about 10 degrees below normal – in the 30s today and tomorrow and in the teens at night – will continue through Monday. That range of temperatures could be right for moving maple sap in time for demonstrations at local maple producers' sugarhouses during Maple Weekend today and tomorrow.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to rise to near 40 under cloudy skies. The chance of snow is put at 30 percent, but meteorologists predict there will be little to no accumulation.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwest Adirondacks:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 31. North wind around 10 mph.

• Tonight: Clear, with a low around 15. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 37. Northeast wind around 6 mph.

• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13. Light and variable wind.

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Light west wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

• Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41. West wind 7 to 11 mph.

• Tuesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 10pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers before 11am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 11am and noon, then a chance of rain showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
