Subzero temperatures not leaving St. Lawrence County in the near future

Frigid, subzero temperatures are expected to continue at least through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight, the county lows are predicted in Star Lake at -22 degrees. Canton and Potsdam are looking at -18 degrees with -28 degree wind chill.

On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise to around 10 degrees in most of the county. Massena will be looking at -16 wind chill. Star Lake and Gouverneur are predicted to see a -27 degree chill factor.

Tuesday night is forecast to get below zero throughout St. Lawrence County. Massena and Ogdensburg are looking at the possibility of -7 degrees with -15 degree wind chill.

All areas of the county could see less than an inch of snow Wednesday with thermometers getting into the mid-teens.

Wednesday night has slightly greater odds of snow than the daylight hours with temperatures creeping down to around -1 in most areas of the county.

Thursday brings a 30 to 40 percent chance of snow with temperatures around 5 degrees, dropping to about -10 at night. Most of the county, except Gouverneur, Massena and Star Lake are facing about 30 percent odds of snow Thursday evening.

Today - Sunny and cold, with a high near 2. Wind chill values as low as -19. Southwest wind around 10 mph.

Tonight - Mostly clear, with a low around -18. Wind chill values as low as -28. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday - Partly sunny, with a high near 11. Wind chill values as low as -13. Light and variable wind.

Tuesday night - Cloudy, with a low around -1. Wind chill values as low as -9. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

Wednesday - A 30 percent chance of light snow after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 15. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Wednesday night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around -1. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph after midnight.

Thursday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 6. West wind 9 to 14 mph.

Thursday night - A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -9. West wind around 11 mph.

Friday - Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 5. West wind around 10 mph.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around -7. South wind around 8 mph.

Saturday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 20. South wind around 8 mph.

Saturday night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 11. South wind 7 to 9 mph.
