Sub-freezing temperatures expected through weekend in St. Lawrence County

A frigid 24 hours is forecast for St. Lawrence County with highs struggling to get out of the single digits today and Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Skies will be cloudy early before gradually clearing up with a high near 11 degrees, the service says. Wind chill values will be as low as -6 with winds of 8 to 10 mph.

There is a slight chance of snow between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. tonight with a low around 5 degrees and wind chill values as low as -8, NWS says. Wind gusts could be as high as 24 miles per hour.

Friday will see a high near 15 with a wind chill near -8. Wind gusts could be as high as 22 mph, NWS says. Snow showers are likely Friday night with 1-2 inches of accumulation possible. The low will be around 13 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to warm back into the 30s for the weekend where some light snowfall is expected, mainly on Frida night and Saturday morning, NWS says.

The forecast through the middle of the week is as follows:

Friday

A 20 percent chance of snow showers after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -8. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Friday Night

Snow showers likely, mainly between 10pm and 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 13. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Saturday

A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the morning. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. East wind 3 to 5 mph.

Sunday

A chance of snow before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 36. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday Night

Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 28. East wind 6 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. West wind 13 to 15 mph.
