POTSDAM -- School children from local schools have been visiting the Potsdam Public Museum to learn about sheep, wool and spinning.
The three-part tour of the exhibit, Counting Sheep, includes basics and history of sheep and wool processing in pre-industrial America, a story about sheep read aloud, and a craft project to make a sheep ornaments.
When school tours conclude this week, over 600 students will have viewed this exhibit. Schools visiting this year include Lawrence Avenue Elementary School, Potsdam Day Care Center, Colton-Pierrepont, Madrid-Waddington, and Potsdam Head Start.
Volunteers who assisted the museum include Courtney Doyle, museum intern; Joan Edzwald and Marni Brown, museum trustees; Maureen Kelly, Julie Welch, Rick Tomlinson, Ann Carvill, Sarah Sachs, Sue Loope, Muffy Charlebois, and museum staff members Mickey Champagne and Fred Rollins. Museum staffer Jerry Deon designed the decorations for the exhibit.
