HEUVELTON -- Approximately 275 pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students raised more than $920 in a walk-a-thon June 1 to raise money to support the Heuvelton Teachers’ Association Backpack Program.
The program provides meals for seven families each week and the teachers’ association hopes to expand the program.
Students walked a course that encompassed the village of Heuvelton. Tim Murray and village Department of Public Works blocked roads to keep our walkers safe. Water was provided by Pepsi-Cola Bottlers.
“Thanks to the Heuvelton community, students raised $920.80 to support the Backpack Program,” said Julie Madlin, social studies teacher for grades seven and eight.
