Eight area schools are sending 57 seventh- through 12th-graders to test table-model roller coasters Tuesday as Clarkson University’s Integrated Math and Physics for Entry To Undergraduate STEM Program (IMPETUS) celebrates another successful year with its annual roller coaster competition
The students, from Canton, Ogdensburg, Madrid-Waddington, Lisbon, Brasher Falls, Colton, Norwood-Norfolk, and Hermon-Dekalb schools, have been designing and building since September.
The model roller coasters will run marbles on their tracks and be judged by thrills, speed, and other criteria.
The event takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. in the new Student Center on the second floor.
The public is welcome.
