We’ve had a few great warm, sunny days in the North Country, but rain is expected to move in tonight.

Dry weather and above-normal temperatures will be the rule today. It is warm and sunny, with highs expected to be near 70 degrees, while increasing high level clouds move in late in the day.

Rain will appear late tonight, especially after midnight, and become widespread across the North Country Wednesday, Wednesday night and Thursday morning, then ending late in the day Thursday, the National Weather Service predicts.

By the end of the day Thursday, rainfall totals are expected to amount to three-quarters of an inch to an inch.

Tonight’s overnight lows will be in the mid-40s and in the low 40s Wednesday night. Highs Wednesday are expected to be in the mid-50s. Winds will be shifting but moderate through the period. Highs Thursday are expected to be in the upper 50s.

The current forecast calls for sunny skies Friday, and a chance that rain will resume Friday night into Saturday.

• Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
