The Tuesday afternoon storm that prompted a National Weather Service tornado watch knocked out power in a small area of St. Lawrence County.

According to National Grid’s outage map, 38 people in Macomb near Pope Mills lost power around 2:45 p.m. and it has since been fixed.

There are 21 people without power in the Waddington area, which is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m. and fewer than five people without power in Nicholville, which should be back on by 7:30 p.m., the map says.

The storm brought warning from meteorologists of downed trees and power lines, with gusts estimated up to 60 mph.

National Grid says anyone experiencing an outage should call 1-800-867-5222, or on their website at www.nationalgridus.com.

People who depend on electricy-powered life support equipment should let National Grid know, the company said. They can register with National Grid at 1-800-642-4272.

An email sent out shortly after the storm says people should be careful driving near repair crews working to restore power. The email also suggests checking on elderly family members, neighbors and others who may need assistance during an outage period.
