OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has received a donation from Stewart’s Holiday Match in support of its annual Family Wellness Day.

The event is a multi-agency promotion of health and wellness to community and regional residents by offering healthy activities and foods, screenings, and information from health providers. It is completely free to the public.

Kids are encouraged to take advantage of the many options that promote physical activity, including an obstacle course, an 18-foot slide, a combo bouncy house, a joust arena, a balloon bouncer, and sports games.

Nutritional snacks such as trail mix, fruit, and vegetables, along with water, are available for attendees to promote healthy snacking habits. With as many as 300 children attending with their families, the Lockwood Arena event offers a way to learn about wellness in a relaxed, fun, and family-friendly environment. This year’s event is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 13.

Stewart’s customers donated $945,000 to the Holiday Match program from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, and Stewart’s Shops matched each individual donation penny for penny. The 2017 program set a record, raising $1.89 million for local children’s organizations, roughly $19,000 more than last season.
