CANTON -- Newly appointed Commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance Samuel Roberts recently toured St. Lawrence County’s Social Services offices with state Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton,
“With Northern New York’s high poverty and high unemployment rates, it’s important for Albany officials to understand the unique challenges we face,” said Ritchie. “Having Commissioner Roberts personally visit to talk to local officials and staff provides him with an understanding you can’t get in Albany.”
Ritchie’s 48th Senate District includes all of the northern edge of St. Lawrence County from Massena to Hammond, including Ogdensburg, Canton and Gouverneur. It extends into Jefferson and Oswego counties.
