The next group of members of the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame is about to be inducted, and Senator Patty Ritchie is inviting nominations from veterans’ posts, family members and community leaders across Northern New York.
The on-line Hall of Fame is designed to pay tribute to New Yorkers whose gallantry in the U.S. Armed Forces is complemented by their service to the community.
Each state senator can name one veteran annually, and Senator Ritchie is asking the community’s help in finding this year’s inductee from Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties.
“The Senate Veterans Hall of Fame pays tribute to those who have served our nation, but I also want to honor those veterans who continued to serve by helping to make our communities better places to live,” Ritchie said.
Inductees will be formally recognized at a June 14 ceremony at the Capitol in Albany.
Last year, Senator Ritchie named the Oswego County Battle of the Bulge Veterans, the first time a group of veterans was recognized by admittance to the Hall.
For a nomination form, visit Ritchie’s website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov, visit or contact her 48th Senate District offices in Oswego, Watertown or Ogdensburg, or call 782-3418.
