NORWOOD -- The Norwood Recreation Park will get a new boathouse because of legislation that recently passed the state Senate, according to Sen. Joe Griffo.
The bill allows the Village of Norwood to lease municipal waterfront land to Clarkson University. The school and a non-profit affiliate, the Grateful Oars Rowing Club, will build the boathouse.
A statement from Griffo's office says he was the legislation's lead sponsor.
“I’m pleased to be able to assist Clarkson University and the village board with this land purchase and hope to see rowing activity coming from that area soon,” Griffo says in a news release.
Griffo represents the 47th Senate district, part of which is a swath of St. Lawrence County from Massena to Fine that includes Potsdam.
