MASSENA -- State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-C-IP, Rome) and Village of Massena Chief of Police Timmy J. Currier today announced a $5,000 grant for surveillance equipment.
Griffo, representing the 47th Senate District, said the funds come from the U.S. Department of Justice by way of the state Division of Criminal Justice Services and consultation with legislators.
The funds could be used for personnel, equipment or training, Griffo said, Chief Currier has elected to use the money for surveillance equipment, to keep track of “trouble spots.”
“It will allow him to have eyes on the ground,” the senator said.
He said the grants are “designed to prevent and control crime and improve public safety.”
