State Sen. Joe Griffo has picked up two endorsements in his campaign to retain his 47th District Senate seat.

For the sixth year straight, Griffo (R-C-IP, Rome) was honored as a recipient of the legislative "Circle of Friends" award from the New York Farm Bureau.

"Farmers have told me that they still face challenges from the recent drought, the push to raise the minimum wage, a tight credit market, hydrofracking and the proposed Thruway toll hikes," Griffo added. "There are still forces out there who target the New York farmer with legislation, regulation, and taxation; they weaken an institution that's as old as New York itself."

New York’s leading small business association, the National Federation of Independent Business, has also endorsed Griffo for re-election.

NFIB/New York State Director Mike Durant said, “Senator Griffo has stood with small business on key issues this session, from enacting the property tax cap to helping push back against new, costly mandates. Joe Griffo is simply the right choice for small business. We look forward to continuing to work with the Senator to reduce the cost of doing business and put New York on the path to economic revitalization,” Durant said.

Griffo has no opponent from the Democratic Party, so he will probably be returning to Albany to represent people from the northeast corner and down through the center of St. Lawrence County.
