NORFOLK – State police are waiting for reports on an autopsy and toxicology in their investigation of a fatal one-vehicle crash in Norfolk Oct. 11.
Derek R. Sessions, 40, of Norwood, was driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado east on Adams Road in the Town of Norfolk when, at about 3 a.m., he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the state police investigation so far.
Troopers said the vehicle went off the south shoulder of the road and traveled for about 100 feet before “over-correcting.”
The vehicle traveled back onto the roadway for a time and went off the north shoulder, striking several small trees and shrubs. The vehicle came to rest, overturned, after striking a large maple tree.
County Coroner June Wood arrived on scene and pronounced Sessions dead 4:30 a.m.
The body was removed to Canton Potsdam Hospital by Norfolk Ambulance.
State police say the investigation continues pending receipt of autopsy results and a toxicology report ordered by investigators.
