MASSENA – A New York State trooper based in Massena has been named Trooper of the Year for Troop B’s Zone 2.
Trooper DeWayne R. Baillargeon, assigned to the Zone 2 radar detail, was presented an award plaque acknowledging his dedicated performance of duty.
Trooper Baillargeon is an 11-year member of the division. His continuing enforcement efforts demonstrated a strong commitment to “ensuring highway safety.” In the past year, he has issued 1,356 traffic tickets, of which 567 were issued for cell phones, 362 for speeding, 94 for seatbelt violations and 9 arrests for driving while intoxicated.
The awards were made at the recent New York State Police Troop “B” Awards and Retirement Ceremony in Malone.
State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico and Major Richard C. Smith Jr., Troop “B” Commander presented the awards.
Twenty-two recently retired members of Troop B were also recognized for their years of service.
