State police handed out 294 traffic-related citations during what they describe as a “38-hour STOP DWI enforcement campaign” over Super Bowl weekend.

Troop B includes St. Lawrence County.

Police say they charged 10 people with driving while intoxicated, 59 with speeding, three for distracted driving, five for a child restraint or seat belt violation and 227 for unspecified other violations.

There were over 4,000 tickets doled out statewide.

The campaign was coordinated and funded by the governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and county STOP-DWI programs. During this enforcement campaign, State Troopers arrested 110 people for DWI and investigated 210 crashes, which injured 37 people. State police say they did not respond to any fatal crashes during Super Bowl weekend.

As part of the enforcement, troopers say they also targeted aggressive drivers and drivers speeding across the state.

"I commend law enforcement officers across New York for their diligence and dedication to protecting the lives of motorists during this campaign, and throughout the rest of the year," Cuomo said in a prepared statement. "We have zero tolerance for impaired and reckless driving."
