RAYMONDVILLE – State police are still searching property on Grantville Road where they believe they found the remains yesterday of a Winthrop man who had been missing since August 2010.
On Wednesday, troopers arrested Dustin J. Trimm, 37, of 325 County Rt. 49, Winthrop, and charged him with second-degree murder for the homicide of Jason M. Wing, who was 21 years old at the time.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began in November, 2010, when Wing was officially declared missing.
“As the investigation progressed, evidence indicated that there was foul play with Wing’s disappearance,” state police said in a statement today.
Members of the Troop “B” Forensic Identification Unit are conducting a search of property on the Grantville Road, at Raymondville in the town of Norfolk.
“This search was commenced on February 1, 2012, and is ongoing at this time,” the statement said.
Investigators located human remains that are believed to be those of Jason Wing. St. Lawrence County Coroner James Sienkiewycz responded to the scene and authorized removal of the remains. An autopsy has been ordered and is scheduled for today.
Trimm, a convicted sex offender, was processed by state police and was arraigned before Norfolk Town Court following his arrest. He was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail following his arraignment.
The case remains under investigation by The New York State Police and St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve.
