PITCAIRN -- A Harrisville man is dead following a two-vehicle accident on county Route 23 Monday that remains under investigation.
Jesse J. Ritz, 26, of Harrisville was killed while operating a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
State police say at around 6:30 a.m. Ritz was traveling south and moved into the northbound lane causing a collision with a 2012 Freightliner box truck operated by Isaac C. Noah, 45, of Utica.
Ritz died in the collision and Noah was treated and released at the scene for a complaint of leg pain.
St. Lawrence County Coroner Joseph E. White responded to the scene and authorized removal of Ritz’s body to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted on today’s date.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response Team responded to the scene due to Noah’s vehicle spilling approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel.
The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
