ST. REGIS FALLS -- A state police sergeant was arrested Friday after he allegedly attacked relatives and destroyed property in the victims’ home.

David H. Hart, 44, of St. Regis Falls, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault, both misdemeanors.

The charges stem from a domestic violence report in the town of Waverly.

Hart is a state police sergeant and was off duty at the time of the alleged incident.

Troopers say they responded to the domestic violence report around 2:41 a.m. Friday.

Troopers say Hart had gone to the home and got into a fight with his relatives. One male victim was treated and released at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for contusions and abrasions, according to police.

Hart was arrested and taken to Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital, Malone due to “a high level of intoxication,” troopers said.

He was later arraigned in Malone Town Court by Justice Charles Robert and released on his own recognizance to reappear in Waverly Town Court at a later date.
