State police sent out this photo of a bike of the kind that Morrow was riding.

CANTON -- The New York State Police would like the public’s assistance in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run collision on Dec. 23 at about 10:50 p.m.

Anyone who saw a person riding a bicycle on County Rt. 27 in the town of Canton between the Meadows Restaurant and the Saint Lawrence University campus between 9 and 11 p.m. that night is asked to contact troopers in Canton at 379-0012.

Richard F. Morrow, 69, Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle as he rode along Rt. 27.

Daniel W. Lester, 28, Rensselaer Falls, was northbound on CR 27 in his 2011 Toyota Corolla when the accident occurred, according to troopers. He has been charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree vehicular assault, first-degree unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, and driving while ability impaired by drugs with prior convictions

Lester was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $7,500 cash bail, troopers said.

The investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing, in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County District Attorney's Office.
