POTSDAM -- State police continue to investigate a New Year's Eve accident that killed a Winthrop man and injured a Parishville woman.
Canton-based state police said the incident occurred at 1:13 p.m. Dec. 31, on State Highway 11.
Troopers said Anna S. Manning, 63, of Parishville allegedly took her eyes off the road to reach for an object in her vehicle and veered into the westbound lane.
Manning's vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, struck a 1994 Ford Econoline van operated by Lawrence E. Wagstaff Jr., 66, of Winthrop, troopers said.
State police said Wagstaff was killed in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood.
Troopers said Manning was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Potsdam rescue where she was treated for a lacerated liver.
State police said charges are pending and the incident is still being investigated.
