State police reportedly issued 462 total tickets issued across St. Lawrence County as part of the national “Click It or Ticket – Border-to-Border enforcement campaign.”
The crackdown reportedly included five driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests, 153 seat belt tickets issued and 14 distracted driving tickets.
Troopers also cited 69 motorists for speeding; handed out nine child restraint tickets and investigated 13 motor vehicle accidents in which one person was injured.
The total number of tickets issued in Troop B, which includes St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Hamilton was 1532. Of those, 17 people were arrested for DWI; 432 were charged with speeding; 201 were issued seat belt tickets, 17 child restraint tickets, 41 distracted driving tickets; 73 motor vehicle accidents investigated, with 7 people injured and 15 move over tickets.
The state-wide crackdown continues through May 31.
