State police report that they checked more than 1,200 vehicles and issued more than 200 tickets during last Friday’s “Safety without Borders Enforcement and Education Detail.”
The checkpoints were conducted in partnership with the Quebec Provincial Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.
The enforcement aspect of the detail focused on unsafe speed and the "move over" law. Two hundred and forty-two vehicles were stopped for various traffic infractions over an eight hour period, resulting 221 total tickets being issued.
One hundred and nineteen tickets were issued for speeding related offenses, 42 for violations of the "move over" law and 60 for other vehicle and traffic law violations, including ten child seat belt infractions.
Twenty-four bus inspections were performed resulting in three summonses and one bus being placed out of service. Seven other commercial vehicle inspections were completed resulting in four summonses issued by the Troop "B" Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
License-plate reader equipped vehicles scanned 1,254 license plates with no active hits developed by the reader.
No criminal arrests were made.
