MASSENA -- State troopers are asking for the public's assistance in solving a reported strong-arm robbery at a residence on county Route 42A.
The male homeowner reported to police at 7:44 p.m. that two males wearing dark masks and clothing entered his residence and hit him with an aluminum baseball bat, according to state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Senior Investigator Judith Trimboli.
She said they then took a small amount of money and fled. The victim sought treatment at Massena Memorial Hospital for injuries to his chest and back and was later released.
Timboli said police aren't yet sure if the robbery was a random or targeted attack.
"We have no idea at this point," she said. "We're interviewing a lot of people and trying to figure it all out."
Trimboli said anyone who witnessed anything strange around county Route 42A, Trippany Road or state Route 37 near the St. Lawrence Centre Mall between 7 and 8 p.m. Monday night should call troopers at 769-7194.
