TUPPER LAKE — State police are investigating what they believe to be a murder-suicide in the Town of Tupper Lake.
Troopers said they responded to 435 Hosley Ave. Wednesday morning following a report of two deceased people.
The call came in around 7:25 a.m., officers said.
A preliminary investigation at the scene is consistent with a murder suicide, police said. The male located at the scene, Stacey Ayotte, 47, is believed to have shot the female, Jamie Martin, 34 years old, and then himself, troopers said.
Police said the deceased were both located outside the residence in close proximity. A rifle was allegedly located at the scene near Ayotte’s body.
The deceased had two children in common who were located at another location in the village of Tupper Lake in good health, officers said.
The Tupper Lake Police Department is assisting with this investigation, as well as the New York State Forest Rangers and Department of Environmental Conservation, and Sunmount Safety Officers.
This investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
